Senior NFL Columnist Offers Bold Prediction Ahead of Packers Preseason Opener

With their preseason debut looming, the Green Bay Packers have big aspirations for the 2025 season. Now that Jordan Love is back to 100%, they’re looking to build on key additions such as Matthew Golden.

Packers 2025 Season's Bold Prediction Ahead of Preseason

Golden is a new offensive threat for Love, but the team added on defense as well. Nate Hobbs was a crucial free agent signing, though he’s slated to miss the rest of training camp. With Xavier McKinney out as well, this NFL on CBS insider still has a bold claim.

Pete Prisco Predicts the Packers Will Win the NFC North

Even after a 2024 season where they went 1-5 in the division, Pete Prisco has no doubts the Packers will rebound. Other than their Week 18 loss to the Chicago Bears, the Packers only lost to quality teams. Six of their losses were against the Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, and Minnesota Vikings.

Prisco was asked to rank the Packers chances of winning the division on a scale of 1-10. He didn’t hesitate to respond, “10. People say always pick the Packers, but look. I love this team. I love the makeup of this team.”

“We talk about youth, they were the youngest team in the league last year. A lot of those guys played. Now that you’re moving into second and third year, that means you have experience. Love is healthy, that’s the most important thing. If Love stays healthy and can throw the football around, they’re going to be competitive in division,” he added.

Looking at the NFC North, Prisco knows each team has a ton of uncertainty, “The Lions have issues, they lost both coordinators. The Vikings have a new quarterback. J.J. McCarthy, what’s he going to do? Nobody knows. The Bears, new coach, Ben Johnson, how does Caleb Williams pick up the offensive system and how does he play in that system?”

Prisco Sends Strong Message to Jordan Love’s Haters

If there’s one thing the senior writer made clear, it’s the fact that he’s high on Love. Prisco has seen it all as he’s covered the NFL for the last 30+ years. While there will always be haters, he is not afraid to jump on the Jordan Love bandwagon.

“He’s focused on being healthy, because he wasn’t healthy last year,” Prisco said. “He was never really the same as he was the year before until late in the season, and I think that showed.”

He added, “He’s healthy now, and it showed up on the practice field… Jordan Love will be just fine. In fact, all those doubters out there, cause they’ve come back out again, you need to go back inside and hide because he’s going to have a big year for the Packers.”

NFL on CBS showed a graphic comparing Love’s Weeks 1-10 to Weeks 11-18. The Packers QB has struggled to start each of his two seasons as a starter. His 11-5 record in Weeks 11-18 speaks for itself.

In total, Love has thrown 28 touchdowns to just two interceptions during those weeks. His completion percentage is up from 60 to 68%. If the Packers can avoid another slow start for Love, they have a chance to be one of the most dangerous teams in the league.
