Serena Williams and Simone Biles spark huge excitement by teasing partnership

Serena Williams could be about to link up with Simone Biles on the tennis court.

Serena Williams has set tongues wagging over a potential collaboration with Simone Biles after dropping a cryptic hint on social media. The pair were among the famous faces in attendance at the TIME 100 Gala in New York on Thursday night. Earlier this month, they were both included on the magazine's list of the top 100 most influential people for 2025.

On Friday, Williams took to Instagram to reminisce about the evening and posted pictures of herself with several celebrities. She posed with Scarlett Johansson as well as Biles, with the stark height difference between the pair on full display. Williams sparked excitement with her caption, which hinted at potentially teaming up with Biles on the tennis court.

The seven-time Wimbledon champion wrote: "The highlight of my night meeting my favorite #Avenger Scarlett Johansson! And of course being reunited with my new doubles partner @simonebiles."

Biles was tagged in the post and left a telling comment, which further teased a possible collaboration with Williams. She said: "Coming soon to a court near you."

It remains to be seen if the two sporting icons will indeed link up on the tennis court in what would be an unexpected turn of events. Biles is known for being arguably the greatest Olympic gymnast in history but may be tempted to try her hand at something completely different.

Williams walked away from tennis in 2022 to focus on her family with her husband Alexis Ohanian and their two young children. Earlier this month, she admitted that she was missing her career while also highlighting how she feels healthy and confident.

"I miss it a lot, with all my heart," the 43-year-old told TIME. "I miss it because I’m healthy. If I couldn't walk, or if I was so out of it, I wouldn’t miss it as much. I think I’m healthy because I didn’t overplay."

Any chance of a full-time comeback was quashed in the same interview, with Williams insisting that she remains devoted to looking after her daughters Olympia and Adira.

"I just can't peel myself away from these children," she added. "Another reason I had to transition was because I wanted to have more kids.

"I look at Adira and I'm like: 'Was it worth it?'. I literally thought about it the other day. I was like: 'Yeah, it was definitely worth it'."
