Serena Williams begins a new adventure as a producer of a tennis series on Netflix

Just a few days after the launch of her new makeup line, Serena Williams continues to expand her role as an entrepreneur in a different field. As reported by Deadline, the American tennis player will be a producer of the Netflix series 'Carrie Soto Is Back', a novel centered around tennis, based on the eponymous book. Its protagonist is willing to give it her all to win. We will have to wait a few more months to see her on our screens.

Serena Williams is expanding her entrepreneurial ventures by stepping into television production. She is set to executive produce a Netflix adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's bestselling novel Carrie Soto Is Back, through her production company Nine Two Six Productions. The series will be written and executive produced by Amanda Kate Shuman, known for her work on The Wheel of Time and The Blacklist .

The story follows Carrie Soto, a retired tennis champion who returns to the sport at 37 to defend her Grand Slam record against a rising star. While the character isn't directly based on Williams, Reid has acknowledged that Serena and Venus Williams significantly influenced the novel. Reid expressed her admiration, stating that she wouldn't write a book about tennis without considering the Williams sisters' impact on the sport .

This project adds to Williams' growing portfolio in the entertainment industry, following her executive production roles in the 2024 docuseries In the Arena: Serena Williams and the 2021 film King Richard, which depicts the early lives of the Williams sisters and their father .

As of now, Netflix has not announced a release date or casting details for the series.
