Tennis-core may be one of the hottest style trends to make waves this summer, but another stylistic genre is catching the attention of real-life tennis champ Serena Williams.
For the Tribeca Festival premiere of her new ESPN series, In the Arena: Serena Williams, the athlete showed up in a head-to-toe Dolce & Gabbana ensemble that put a sophisticated twist on ballet-core.
Her custom-made look involved a baby-pink strapless silk corset with exposed boning layered atop a blush chiffon halterneck dress. The tutu-esque skirt featured a see-through fabric over a hip-high leg slit, as well as a hemline that hit just above her knees. Williams completed her look with more pink elements, including platform satin sandals and a sophisticated clutch bag.
As for the star’s accessories, Williams opted for full glamour with diamond-embellished jewelry featuring large pink pear-shaped gemstones. She also added a classic diamond tennis bracelet and a gold watch.
At the Tribeca Festival, Williams debuted the first two episodes of her ESPN docuseries, which was first announced in May 2023.
At the time, ESPN released a brief synopsis of the show:
“Several of Serena’s most significant Grand Slam tournaments and defining personal milestones are examined and decoded in detail. The series juxtaposes Serena’s spectacular on-court achievements and cultural impact with dramatic personal challenges. Through it all, Serena fights to maintain her place atop the tennis world while juggling the transformational experience of starting a family.
