Severity of Dallas Cowboys All-Pro Edge Rusher Micah Parsons’ Injury Revealed

The Dallas Cowboys survived against the New York Giants on Thursday night, but major concern emerged after All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons rode into the locker room on a cart after suffering an apparent ankle injury.

An MRI confirmed some of those worries, revealing Parsons had suffered a high-ankle sprain at MetLife Stadium.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Parsons will be sidelined for at least 7-to-10 days before being re-evaluated to set any sort of timeline to return.

Parsons’ injury couldn’t come at a worse time for Dallas, as the Cowboys begin a stretch of games at Pittsburgh against the Steelers, home against the Detroit Lions, at the San Francisco 49ers, at the Atlanta Falcons, against the Philadelphia Eagles and against the Houston Texans. It is entirely possible that each of those teams wind up making the NFL playoffs this season.

Fortunately for Dallas, the Cowboys’ bye week comes before the tilt against the reigning NFC Champion 49ers.

One of the Cowboys’ most dominant and productive defensive players, Parsons had produced 14 total tackles with one sack through the Cowboys’ first four games of the season.

It appears that Dallas will need to get through at least next week’s game against Pittsburgh without Parsons, and maybe longer.
