Shaq issues stern warning to Robert Griffin III (and he’d better listen)

In one of the wildest sports crossover stories of 2025 so far, Shaq has entered the conversation regarding Robert Griffin III and his controversial social media posts about WNBA star Angel Reese.

Shaq recently issued a very stern warning to Griffin regarding "monkey posts" about Reese. The basketball icon told him if he made another one, he was going to punch him in the face...

Shaq THREATENS to put hands on RG3 if he makes another disrespectful post about Angel Reese.

“Tweet another monkey post about my girl Angel Reese I’m gonna punch you in the f*cking face” 😂

Shaq makes bold threat to Robert Griffin III to defend Angel Reese

Shaq has been a mentor to Reese, who played college basketball at Shaq's alma mater, LSU. And now he's not only been a mentor to her, but an advocate for her and a public defender.

Controversy began heating up when an image was shared by former Washington quarterback Griffin on social media of an edited NBA 2K26 cover depicting Reese as a monkey.

"RGIII, tweet another monkey post about my girl Angel Reese, and I’m gonna punch you in your f—— face. OK? It’s enough. Like, I don’t usually do stuff like this, but just stop it, bro. You got your job, you got your podcast, leave my Angel Reese alone. I’m the one calling her and telling her not to respond."

Since his playing days, Griffin has become a major media personality for ESPN and other outlets, currently doing a successful podcast (which Shaq alluded to) called Outta Pocket, which has 251,000 subscribers (and counting) on YouTube.

Griffin has a massive platform. Sharing the image which has Shaq riled up has been seen nearly 10 million times on X (formerly Twitter) alone.

As of the time this post is being written, Griffin has offered no response to this strong message, but it doesn't seem like Shaq is speaking this in jest. He's genuinely upset about the whole situation and is doing what he thinks is right to come to the defense of a young athlete in Reese, who is a constant subject of scrutiny in the sports world.

We'll see if Griffin offers any sort of rebuttal to Shaq at some point. For now, it seems like he would be wise to steer clear of this issue any further.
