Sanders is expected to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is one of the top prospects in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
The son of all-time great NFL superstar/Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is in the midst of yet another impressive college football campaign with the Buffaloes. Through Colorado's 5-2 start to the season, the 22-year-old signal caller has 2,268 yards, 19 touchdowns and six interceptions with a 72.2 completion percentage.
Sanders is expected to be one of the first quarterbacks off the board in the NFL draft. And according to The 33rd Team's most recent NFL mock draft, he'll be the first QB to hear his name called on draft night.
The 33rd Team has Sanders going No. 2 overall to the Cleveland Browns.
If the Browns were to select Sanders, they'd essentially be giving up on veteran quarterback Deshaun Watson. The Cleveland organization signed Watson on a five-year, fully-guaranteed $230 million contract before the 2022 season.
Watson struggled mightily through the first seven games of his 2024 season, performing as one of the league's worst starting quarterbacks despite his massive contract and former Pro-Bowl status.
Watson's 2024 season came to an end during the Browns' Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals when he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon. He recently underwent surgery and will be unavailable for the remainder of Cleveland's 2024 campaign.
Jameis Winston will start for the Browns when they face off against the Baltimore Ravens in a Week 8 matchup on Sunday afternoon.
