Shedeur Sanders sounds like he would love to play for Kellen Moore and the Saints

Shedeur Sanders could fall to the New Orleans Saints in the 2025 Draft, and being paired with Kellen Moore would excite the quarterback prospect.

The New Orleans Saints landing one of the top two quarterbacks with the ninth-overall pick seemed impossible when the offseason first started. Now as the draft nears closer, it seems like a real possibility the Saints could end up with Shedeur Sanders, who’s generally considered the second-best quarterback prospect in the 2025 class.

With quarterback Cam Ward expected to go No. 1 to the Tennessee Titans, draft analyst have predicted that Sanders could go as early as No. 2, or that he could slide deep into the first round. If he does slide, New Orleans will have to seriously consider stopping his slide at nine, because they need a quarterback of the future.

If that happens, Sanders would be excited, because he recently revealed he’s a fan of Saints head coach Kellen Moore. Following the Colorado football showcase, where Sanders threw in front of all 32 teams, he was asked his thoughts about possibly playing for Kellen Moore.

The young quarterback used the moment to show his age, revealing he wasn’t familiar with how prolific Moore was in college at Boise State. Sanders made sure to watch some film of Moore during his playing days, and came away extremely impressed. Acknowledging that the first-time head coach has already done what Sanders is trying to do, the quarterback prospect said it’d be great to learn from someone who has the experience of playing quarterback.

Shedeur Sanders thinks it would be great to be coached by Kellen Moore

Moore didn’t attend Sanders’ pro day, but the Saints did send quarterback coach Scott Tolzien and and wide receiver coach Keith Williams, and they also met with Sanders at the Combine. That could be noteworthy because New Orleans sent large contingents to other quarterback prospect pro days, and also took some to dinner. If those things are representative of interest levels, the Saints may not be as interested in Sanders as they are other prospects.

This all remains to be seen, as it’s hard trying to read teams ahead of the draft. New Orleans may not even have the opportunity to select Sanders, or the team may have the chance and still decide to pass. Whatever the case, everyone’s true feelings will be revealed on draft night.
