Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders has faced criticism following recent speeding tickets, prompting his brother, Shilo, to throw some playful jabs with a bit of trolling.
Shedeur, who was selected by the Browns in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, has become a topic of debate both for his on-field potential and off-field decisions.
Reports have recently surfaced detailing multiple speeding violations, including one instance where the quarterback was clocked driving more than 100 mph, just weeks after receiving an earlier citation. He also reportedly failed to appear in court for at least one of the infractions, adding fuel to concerns about his maturity and decision-making.
During a recent episode of Shilo Sanders’ Tampa Food Tour series on YouTube, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety couldn’t resist taking a lighthearted jab at his younger sibling.
“I know out here in Tampa we got to be careful crossing the street. Especially if Shedeur is out here,” Shilo said.
Shedeur Sanders May Be Punished by Browns
Sanders is working to climb the depth chart in Cleveland after a surprising draft slide. Once projected as a first-round pick, the Browns landed the former Colorado star at No. 144 overall in the fifth round.
While his recent speeding tickets aren’t expected to significantly affect his status with the team or in the quarterback competition, Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot noted that Sanders could still face some form of internal discipline for the infractions.
“The Browns will address the tickets and possibly deliver some kind of consequences for conduct detrimental to the team, especially considering the second one came during rookie orientation,” Cabot said. “But I doubt his reps or status in the competition will be impacted. He left minicamp as the fourth-team quarterback, and will likely open training camp the same way.”
Shedeur Sanders Trying to be ‘Best Teammate’ With Browns
The Browns aren’t in a hurry to set their quarterback depth chart and Sanders isn’t pressing either. Though his reps in OTAs and minicamp have been limited, the rookie is using the early workouts to hone the small details he believes will make a big difference over time.
“My goal is to be the best teammate and to be as polished as I can be in every aspect,” Sanders said during minicamp. “I view things as I got time. I got time to be able to grow and mature and be able to understand the ins and outs of the defenses and be able to get the good insight from the vets in the room.
“So, I look at it as a plus. I got time to actually be able to really have a great understanding and whenever it’s time for me to play, then it’s time for me to play. But I’m not looking too far in the future about all that. I’m looking [at] every day in practice. … I’m focused on the small things and over time the big things will happen.”
Sanders and the Browns will open training camp on July 18. The veterans will join them a few days later as the team prepares for its first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers on August 8.
