Fire Country's Spinoff Sheriff Country: What to Know About the CBS Show | Us Weekly

For three seasons, Fire Country has set televisions ablaze with stupendous smoke-filled stunts, and now viewers will see a different side of the town of Edgewater, with a new spinoff: Sheriff Country.

The upcoming freshman series focuses on Sheriff Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin), who was introduced in the second season of Fire Country.

“She’s part of Edgewater, and we’re just expanding the Edgewater universe. So I think it’ll feel like coming home when you finally are able to tune into Sheriff Country," executive producer Tia Napolitano told TV Insider in May 2024.

Speaking to USA Today in April 2025, Fire Country star Max Thieriot teased, "Now we get to really dive deeper into her story. Even though it's a Fire Country episode, there's a lot of new texture to it."

So how will the two series be connected? From the cast to what the show will be about, here's everything to know about the Fire Country spinoff, Sheriff Country.

What is Sheriff Country about?

Fire Country

Sheriff Country follows Sheriff Mickey Fox (Baccarin), the stepsister of Fire Country's division chief Sharon Leone (Diane Farr).

Mickey not only has to worry about keeping the streets of Edgewater safe, but she also has to deal with family drama. In addition to reconnecting with her father, who was previously incarcerated, Mickey is still in contact with her ex-husband as their daughter struggles with drug addiction.

"The moral compass of the character is going to be tested over and over," Baccarin said in a video setting up the spinoff.

How does Sheriff Country relate to Fire Country?

Fire Country

Both series take place in Edgewater, Calif., and in the second season of Fire Country, it was revealed that Mickey is Sharon's stepsister.

“I was so excited to get that script. They’ve been developing it for a long time," Farr said in a May 2024 interview with TV Insider. "When they told me she was going to be my sister, it was so exciting because every layer of family for a character just allows you to see a different side of them."

In a clip discussing the two shows, Baccarin teased, "The Fire Country and the Sheriff Country family are heroic people having very intimate, real relationships."

Who is in the cast of Sheriff Country?

Fire Country

Sheriff Country stars Baccarin as Mickey Fox, who first appeared in the second season of Fire Country.

The rest of the cast includes W. Earl Brown as Wes, Michele Weaver as Mickey's father and sheriff deputy Cassidy, and Christopher Gorham as Mickey's ex-husband and lawyer, Travis.

When it comes to her dating life, things are complicated since Mickey and Travis "might still harbor feelings for each other," per Deadline.

Former CSI: Vegas star Matt Lauria has also joined the cast. According to Variety, Lauria will play Boone, Sheriff Mickey's longtime deputy partner who is “smart, tough and capable” with a "different style of law enforcement."

When does Sheriff Country premiere?
