The Boston Red Sox are interested in landing a third baseman, with it likely coming down to either Alex Bregman or Nolan Arenado.
If the Red Sox want to win a World Series in 2025, which should always be the plan, adding one of the two is in their best interest.
There are a few different things to think about when it comes to Bregman and Arenado.
Arenado only has three more years on his deal, so unless the Red Sox could sign Bregman to a short-term contract, it might be better to go with the St. Louis Cardinals star.
However, if the Red Sox were interested in trading for the Cardinals' third baseman, they'd have to trade a prospect or two along the way.
According to John Denton of MLB.com, the Cardinals are interested in Blaze Jordan, Boston's former highly regarded prospect.
"One player the Cardinals have discussed as a potential return for Arenado, per a source, is slugging first baseman Blaze Jordan, the No. 22 prospect in the Red Sox's system," Denton wrote.
During his prep days, Jordan was considered one of the top players in the nation. He hasn't necessarily lived up to the hype during his professional career, but there's no denying the type of talent he has when he puts it all together offensively.
His power numbers haven't been where many expected them to be, hitting just 43 home runs and 1,397 at-bats.
Still, he has the tools to be an elite-level hitter at just 22 years old.
If he's all it'd take to get Arenado, it's tough to say the Red Sox shouldn't make that deal.
