No one can argue that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers boast, on paper, one of the most explosive offenses in football.
Last season, with Chris Godwin out after Week 7, a rookie running back and Baker Mayfield trying to make sure his 2023 Pro Bowl wasn't a fluke, the Buccaneers averaged a crisp 29.5 points per game, with Mayfield again earning a Pro Bowl nod, Mike Evans going past 1,000 yards, and Irving rushing for over 1,000 yards.
Now, as we turn to the 2025 season, Matt Verderame has ranked all 32 teams' triplets, which consist of a quarterback, running back, and receiver.
Tampa Bay's trio of Mayfield, Irving, and Evans came in at No. 10.
"The Buccaneers are underrated nationally, but they’re stacked on offense," he writes. "Mayfield has been brilliant in Tampa, throwing for 8,544 yards and 69 touchdowns across two years, both times winning the NFC South. Last year, Irving stormed onto the scene as a rookie and totaled 1,122 rushing yards on 5.4 YPC with eight touchdowns, while Evans posted his 11th consecutive 1,000-yard season."
That is a good trio anyway you want to slice it.
Some still aren't sold on Baker being the franchise quarterback to make a deep playoff run, but Irving should improve on his 2024 efforts, and Evans, with a receiver room that added Emeka Egbuka, might see a lot of favorable matchups en route to what we hope is another 1,000-yard season.
So the Buccaneers having a top-10 offensive trio isn't earth-shattering. It isn't even surprising.
And they will be tasked with trying to get this franchise to the playoffs and beyond in 2025, and based on what we have already seen, they are more than capable of doing it.
