The New England Patriots have a plethora of young players they are hoping will make instant impacts in 2025 with the additions of Will Campbell, Kyle Williams, and Jared Wilson joining an offensive unit in desperate need of makeover from last season.

Fortunately, one rookie standout from Patriots training camp is being predicted to have an instant impact in 2025.

Patriots Rookie RB TreVeyon Henderson Predicted to Have an Instant Impact in 2025

Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report recently pinpointed 10 rookies who were drafted outside round one in the 2025 NFL Draft who could make an instant impact in 2025. Patroits rookie RB TreVeyon Henderson was one of the players named on that list.

Sobleski wrote, “TreVeyon Henderson, who was drafted with this year’s 38th overall pick, may or may not be New England’s lead back as a rookie. But he’s too valuable to keep off the field.”

Henderson proved over his final season at Ohio State that even another top running back prospect (Quinshon Judkins) couldn’t keep him off of the field with 1,300 total yards and 11 touchdowns over his 171 touches in 2024.

Sobleski added, “Henderson has home run capabilities as a ball-carrier. He was the best pass-blocking back among this year’s class. While he wasn’t a huge threat as a receiver as part of Ohio State’s offense, everyone should expect him to be a notable part of the Patriots’ ariel attack.”

New England spent a second-round pick on the explosive Ohio State RB in the 2025 NFL Draft and has been drawing positive reports from the early practice sessions of training camp.

Jordy McElroy of Yahoo Sports wrote, “Rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson looked solid catching passes out of the offensive backfield. His speed and receiving skills are going to be real weapons for offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Receivers struggled to separate in New England throughout the 2024 season. If that somehow remains the case in 2025, Henderson is a real mismatch that the Patriots should be able to use to their advantage.”

Could TreVeyon Henderson Supplant Rhamondre Stevenson as the Top RB in New England in 2025?

The Patriots’ rushing attack wasn’t very explosive last season with Rhamondre Stevenson rushing for just 801 yards and seven scores over his 207 carries in 2024, which could make Henderson a candidate to lead this backfield if Stevenson’s per carry efficiency continues to drop for a third consecutive season.

Sobleski added, “Rhamondre Stevenson may be built more like a traditional lead back, but he lacks the juice of Henderson. He also experienced his fair share of ball-security issues. Henderson is going to eat into Stevenson’s playing time and become New England’s biggest threat out of the backfield.”

Henderson split time with Judkins last year at Ohio State, but actually produced his best year of production his true freshman year with 1,248 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns over his 183 carries back in 2021.

Despite not being asked to be a feature bell cow back over his final three years with the Buckeyes, his production from early in his college career suggests he can certainly lead a backfield when called upon.

Additionally, Henderson projects as the better option in the passing game and can be trusted in pass protection — which should help him get on the field early and often to start his rookie year.
