The Buffalo Bills' future opponent, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, may not play in their Week 13 matchup.

The Buffalo Bills will have extra time to rest up and prepare for their Week 13 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers with their Week 12 bye week.

Although the matchup is still over a week away, there's a possibility that Buffalo will catch a huge break.

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy was ruled out for their matchup with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday with a shoulder injury. When he was asked about Purdy's availability against the Bills, coach Kyle Shanahan couldn't give a confident answer.

"I don't want to say there's long-term concern," Shanahan said. "We thought he just needed some rest and really weren't concerned about him not being good this week. But when he started up Thursday, just surprised him, surprised us, how it felt. So we had to shut him down. So, I really don't what to think of it. The MRI doesn't look like that, so it should be alright. But the way it responded this week, it's really up in the air for next week, so we'll have to see on Monday.”

With Purdy out this week, backup quarterback Brandon Allen will start in his place against Green Bay. In his nine year career, Allen has started in nine total games and has a 2-7 record.

While the 49ers are certainly stronger with Purdy at quarterback, he has struggled this season, especially with scoring touchdowns. In 10 starts, Purdy has thrown for 2,613 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
