Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 Trailer Includes Classic Throwback To TOS & Introduces The Holodeck To The Enterprise

The first trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 has been released, including a throwback to the first show and introduces the Holodeck. Strange New Worlds season 3 will continue the journey of the crew aboard the USS Enterprise, prior to the events of Star Trek: The Original Series. The show's focus includes that of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), alongside the early years of crew members like Spock (Ethan Peck), Christine Chapel (Jess Bush), and Nyota Uhura (Cela Rose Gooding) to name a few.

Now, Paramount+ has released the first official teaser for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3, teasing all the new adventures to come across the show's 10-episode season. This includes beginning footage that is reminiscent of The Original Series, including a retro filter that makes it look like it's from the 1960s. It teases the developing relationship between Spock and Christine, alongside a variety of threats the crew will have to face. Other highlights include Patton Oswalt appearing as a Vulcan and Pelia (Carol Kane) trying to rewire the Enterprise.

One curious detail is that the Holodeck appears in the trailer as well. This is despite the location originating in Star Trek: The Animated Series, which takes place long after the events of Strange New Worlds. Even so, it appears in the trailer, sporting a similar look to when it was featured in Star Trek: The Next Generation. After confirming a release window of summer 2025, the trailer ends with James Kirk (Paul Wesley) having a toast with a newcomer to the crew, Scotty (Martin Quinn). Check out the full trailer below:

When the Holodeck debuted in Star Trek: The Animated Series, it was called the "recreation room," later getting a name change in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

What Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Trailer Says About Season 3

Memorable New Adventures Are On The Horizon

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Pike A Quality of Mercy

Based on the trailer, it seems the characters in Strange New Worlds will be experiencing some wild new stories as the season progresses. The retro feel of the trailer promises to pay bigger tribute to The Original Series, as the timeline continues inching closer to when Pike hands command over to Kirk. For now, though, it seems the group will be caught up in death-defying battles, a murder mystery, and their personal connections growing in various new ways.

However, it's clear season 3 will be introducing plenty of new concepts as well, such as the oddly-placed early arrival of the Holodeck, alongside Scotty's introduction to the crew. It seems the show is slowly laying the groundwork for when Kirk takes over, offering plenty of references to his time as the Enterprise's captain. However, Strange New Worlds season 4 is one of the upcoming Star Trek TV shows. It's currently filming, too, meaning that, despite the many references to The Original Series, this stretch of the franchise is far from finished.

As for the progression of the show, the new adventures seem like they'll be in line with what's come before, while adding plenty of twists that can make it all the more intriguing.
