Stassi Schroeder opened up about her and Beau Clark‘s falling out with Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright in her new book, You Can’t Have It All: The Basic B*tch Guide to Taking the Pressure Off.
Over two years after Jax, 45, and Brittany, 35, infamously pulled out of Stassi, 36, and Beau’s wedding at the last minute, the Vanderpump Rules alum explained why the diss was so painful as she called out the now-ex-couple, who recently filmed a second season of The Valley, for lying to the press. She also weighed in on their split.
“[Jax and Brittany] were of course invited, because they were two of our close friends. They RSVP’d yes, but I didn’t hear much from Brittany leading up to the wedding, which was weird because usually you’re texting about being excited or asking what clothes you’re packing or something. Not only that, we started hearing from Beau’s best friend, Rob, that Jax was texting him and Tom Schwartz saying they might not go to the wedding, and listing off reasons why,” Stassi wrote in an excerpt shared on Instagram by Bye Wig Hello Drama.
“One reason was that Jax doesn’t like Europe … I’m not saying they had to fly to Italy. I get that it’s a lot to ask, but if they weren’t going to come they could have told us, and we could have invited two people that wanted to be there,” she continued. “A little communication would have been nice, is what I’m saying.
Because Stassi and Beau’s first nuptials were held in the midst of the pandemic, they struggled to keep their guest list small when it came to their Rome wedding.
“It pained us to not be able to invite people we cared about. So this wasn’t a petty thing for us, it was deeply painful. Imagine if two of your closest friends just … didn’t want to come,” Stassi explained.
Although Stassi said she and Beau, 44, confronted Jax and Brittany with what had been said in regard to their plan to pull out of the event, Jax insisted that they were still coming. Then, on the day that she and Beau were flying to Italy, Brittany sent her a long text message confirming that they would not be there.
“It was such a slap in the face. They were supposed to be our ride-or-die friends, and this felt like they didn’t respect that friendship at all,” Stassi noted. “Their wedding in Kentucky had to be the most important thing in our lives for an entire summer when we were filming the show. We were there for all of it.”
“As soon as I read that text, Beau and I were like, we’re done. I wasn’t going to just roll over for this one,” she went on, noting that her “main issue” is with Jax because she believed Brittany would have wanted to come and “wasn’t texting a bunch of people about it.”
“Lala Kent couldn’t come because she was on a podcast tour, and I’m not angry with her because she told us. She didn’t pretend she was coming, talk sh*t behind our backs, and then cancel at the last minute,” Stassi added.
Adding insult to injury was the fact that Jax and Brittany continued to talk to the press about their strained friendship.
“On [Scheana Shay]’s podcast, she and Brittany ripped into me and my wedding. They kept talking to press and telling people that Beau and I were holding a grudge because they weren’t coming to the wedding, which wasn’t true,” Stassi mentioned of Jax and Brittany’s lies. “Many people couldn’t come to our wedding, but they told us in advance and didn’t pretend they were coming until the last minute. This just pushed me and Beau further away from them.”
According to Stassi, she’s been burned by Jax more times than she could count. But when he burned Beau, she knew she could no longer humor a relationship with him.
“Why would I continue a friendship when someone has repeatedly shown me his character? Nope. Not anymore,” she declared. “I want to surround myself with people I can count on.”
After then noting that she and Brittany “are cordial,” and that Jax has attempted to get Beau to visit his bar, Jax’s Studio City, she reacted to their divorce.
“I know that, as I write this, they have split up, so I wish them the best. That doesn’t mean what they did is right though,” she shared.
Stassi Schroeder is expected to appear in the upcoming second season of Vanderpump Villa and will also be starring in her own Hulu docu-series, Stassi Says, sometime in the coming months.
