The Pittsburgh Steelers entered the offseason with a lot of questions.
Fans were unsure how the team would improve their roster, and with many holes, it felt like this team was on track to have another season around .500, if not worse.
While they didn’t make any major moves in the draft, the Steelers have been strategic with some veteran leaders, piquing fan interest.
The addition of Aaron Rodgers was long-awaited, and if he plays anywhere close to his MVP self, this offense could be the best they’ve been in five or more years.
As for the defensive side of the ball, Jalen Ramsey was another key addition, a 30-year-old cornerback who still has some tread left on the tires.
When healthy, Ramsey has been one of the best cornerbacks in the league and was a key contributor for the Los Angeles Rams when they won the Super Bowl in 2021.
The team recently posted an image of Ramsey in a Steelers jersey donning the number, which was worn by punter Cameron Johnson in 2024.
Johnson is seemingly switching his number so Ramsey can have it, as numbers are a big deal to many athletes across all sports.
The number on a player’s jersey can have a special meaning to them, and if having No. 5 can energize Ramsey that much more, to be a key contributor for this defense, the Steelers will certainly take it.
It will be interesting to see how the Steelers fare this season, and if they’ll find a way to get over .500 and fight for a deep playoff run.
