Steelers defensive back Beanie Bishop explains why he recently disgraced the Pittsburgh Panthers logo on social media

The Backyard Brawl is one of the most bitter rivalries in all of college football.

The Pitt Panthers and West Virginia Mountaineers don't like each other. Never have, never will.

Pittsburgh Steelers CB Beanie Bishop (a former Mountaineer) proved that on his Instagram story and it sent more than a few into a tizzy...

Beanie Bishop responds to questions about him wiping his cleats on Pitt's logo

“It’s a rivalry, obviously people are not going to like me based on what school I went to and that’s fine,” Bishop told Steelers media on Wednesday. “It’s part of the rivalry. We don’t like those guys and they don’t like us. I don’t really have any liking for those guys, that’s part of it...

"...That’s self-explanatory. If you go and ask them, they probably hate me. Do I care? No, not really? That’s just part of it. If you go ask any fan in Baltimore ‘what do they think about the Steelers?’ They hate us. It is what it is. It’s part of the rivalry. I’m only concerned with the Pittsburgh Steelers fans and West Virginia fans in that instance.”

Instagram stories disappear after 24 hours, so unless you are reading this very close to publish time, you likely will miss the video that Bishop posted if you haven't already seen it.

Well, you're in luck in that case, as I have screen-shotted it for you...

Bishop would go on to rub his cleats on the logo and you would have thought he started World War III, given the outrage of many Pitt fans. Personally, I am all for rivals, and I don't think it was a big deal, but I also don't have any skin in the game, so I could see how Pitt alums, coaches, and players would take offense.
