The Pittsburgh Steelers will focus on several position groups in the upcoming NFL Draft beginning April 24.
One of those positions could be cornerback, although there might be another option for general manager Omar Khan than the selection show.
NFL Media reports that the Miami Dolphins and cornerback Jalen Ramsey have mutually agreed to explore trade options ahead of next season.
This comes just one year after Ramsey signed a three-year extension set to begin with the 2026 season. That means Ramsey is under contract through 2028.
There is reportedly just one year of guaranteed money on the extension is for 2025 with about $25 million in salary and bonuses.
Ramsey has shown durability of late, starting every game in Miami last year and tallying 60 tackles, two interceptions and a sack.
He missed out on the Pro Bowl for the first time since his rookie year and it's been since 2021 since he was selected All-Pro.
If Ramsey is traded, it most likely won't happen until after the upcoming draft when teams have a better idea of what their rosters look like heading into the summer.
The seven-time Pro Bowler and three-time First-Team All-Pro also finished second in the 2016 Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.
In 135 career games over nine seasons, Ramsey has 534 tackles with 432 solo and 27 for loss with three sacks and nine quarterback hits. He's added 24 interceptions with one pick-6, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
If Khan and the Steelers are to seek a trade for Ramsey, they'll have to evaluate the value of a 30-year-old cornerback on the tail end of his career.
