Steelers find a way to immediately anger Aaron Rodgers in notable NFL mock draft

Would history repeat itself involving Aaron Rodgers?

If the Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers don’t come to an agreement at some point this offseason to join forces for the 2025 season, it will be quite shocking seeing as how the Steelers need a proven veteran to throw the ball to their newly acquired star receiver, D.K. Metcalf.

After being released by the New York Jets this past offseason, Rodgers doesn’t have much time left in his NFL career. He will always be known for being a legend with the Green Bay Packers, but his departure from Green Bay was very sour once the Packers drafted Jordan Love in 2020. How did Rodgers respond to that move? He won back-to-back MVP awards.

However, the breakup was needed and Rodgers was traded to the Jets but played in just one full season and it was a horrendous season for New York. Now, Rodgers is looking to keep his career going and Pittsburgh might just be the landing spot as Art Rooney II recently talked about how he believes that Rodgers will be a Steeler at some point.

While this Rodgers-to-Pittsburgh saga plays the waiting game, that should not stop the Steelers from thinking about the future at the quarterback position. However, that comes with a risk when it comes to Rodgers because if he signs with the Steelers before the NFL Draft, there is a risk that he will have to live through history once again of his team drafting his eventual replacement.

Latest NFL mock draft has Steelers finding a way to make Aaron Rodgers mad

Field Yates from ESPN released a 2-round mock draft (subscription required) and with Pittsburgh’s first round pick at No. 21, the Steelers take Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. Since the draft coverage started really kicking off, Dart has been climbing the board in the first round and if he lands in the right situation, he has the opportunity to really thrive.

Dart is the type of quarterback you want to open up the playbook; A dual-threat who can take off with his legs. Every single year, he improved his production in college which is one of the reasons why he should be drafted in the first round.

Again, assuming that Rodgers signs with the Steelers before the draft, if Dart goes to Pittsburgh in the first round, then there is going to be even more coverage about Pittsburgh and Rodgers. At the same time, the Steelers shouldn’t be worrying about that. They have no choice but to get a quarterback of the future in their building and it surely isn’t Mason Rudolph or Aaron Rodgers.
