The Steelers are on the hunt for their next franchise quarterback following the departures of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields this offseason. Tomlin's quarterback room currently consists of Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson.

Sanders, the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, completed 74.0% of his pass attempts for a Big 12-leading 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns for the Colorado Buffaloes in 2024.

"I've obviously known his father for a long time, [but] it was my first time meeting [Shedeur], and to be quite honest with you, we didn't talk a whole lot about my relationship with his father," Tomlin added. "It was a normal pre-draft visit, to spend time with a young man, to talk ball, to get to know him as an individual, to get to see how he processes and sees the game and how he articulates his football experience. From that standpoint, it was a very normal visit and a very productive one."

The 2025 NFL draft will begin at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday.
