The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in a tough spot entering the 2025 season, with the only quarterbacks on the roster being Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson, neither of whom has much experience as a proven starter.
Of course, there's certainly the thought that they will end up signing Aaron Rodgers, but it continues to become less and less likely with no deal in place and free agency already starting a month ago.
That's why many believe the Steelers could be looking for a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft, with Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports predicting they will trade up to No. 10 with the Chicago Bears to select Colorado's Shedeur Sanders.
"The Steelers, who just might be desperate enough to send a third-round pick this year and a second-rounder next year to the Bears (who narrowly miss out on Jeanty) and land a high-floor, pro-ready passer in Sanders who can handle the pressure that comes with leading such a storied franchise," Easterling wrote.
Sanders is coming off an impressive season for the Buffaloes, completing 353-of-477 passes for a 74 completion percentage (highest in FBS history) and 4,124 yards, 37 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a 168.2 passing efficiency rating.
There's also been clear interest from the Steelers, who brought Sanders in for a pre-draft visit back on April 10, with ESPN's Peter Shrager reporting that the meeting lasted five hours.
Of course, the Steelers are also a much more stable organization compared to most teams who might be interested in the Colorado product, as head coach Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season since taking over in 2007.
