Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Beanie Bishop has a few goals for his second year in the NFL.
Some of those are related to team accomplishments, but Bishop has one specific goal that he sees for himself in 2025. That would be making the Pro Bowl.
The West Virginia product hopes to make a bigger impact on the defense overall after starting the first eight games of the season a year ago.
“People see stats, but I wanna have a bigger impact on the game,” Bishop said. “Obviously I want to, as far as the team goes, I want to win the North, get a home-field playoff game first of all, and be able to win here. And make the Pro Bowl.”
Bishop currently profiles as the Steelers’ starting slot cornerback. Cam Sutton played in the slot the entire second half of the 2024 season but struggled to give the Steelers even average play.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin made it clear that Bishop would not be handed the starting role once again in 2025, and if he is the starter, he will have earned that role through a camp battle.
“I thought he [Beanie Bishop] made some plays, particularly as you look at cut ups. It was a good start for him, particularly being an undrafted guy the way that he was. It’s reasonable to expect him to continue to grow and take off and be able to do some more things. Excited about the upside of him, but certainly he’s going to be faced with some competitive challenges in terms of re-earning that role in 2025, but that’s just the nature of this thing,” Tomlin said.
Bishop had four interceptions, including two off Aaron Rodgers in the Steelers’ win over the New York Jets. While he plays at slot cornerback, Bishop also provides special teams value.
