Steelers RB Jaylen Warren focused on Super Bowl, not contract extension

The focus of the third year back remains on the field

Last season Steelers RB Jaylen Warren had a serious coming-out party. The undrafted second-year ball-carrier out of Oklahoma State averaged 5.4 yards per carry on 149 totes and finished the season with 784 rushing yards. He also hauled in 61 passes which ranked him second on the team behind WR George Pickens (63).

There’s been much to do about the Steelers’ decision to decline RB Najee Harris’ fifth-year 2025 option - which could likely pave the way for Warren to become the bell cow next season.

However, he’s not concerned about his contract status. When asked if he and the team had talked about an extension, he was quick to shrug off the question.

It’s that type of mentality that has endeared Warren to both the black and gold, and the Steelers fans alike.

It’s important to mention that Warren is still on a rookie free-agent contract - which isn’t exactly necessarily breaking the bank in relative NFL terms. And it doesn’t help that he was fined multiple times for just playing the game of football last season (in other words, they were ludicrous.)

If the Steelers are to contend for a Super Bowl this season, Warren could possibly be the catalyst who puts them in that position. I’m anticipating another big year for the motivated powerhouse - who hopes to work towards that contract extension.
