Steelers' Rival Exposed Mike Tomlin's Terrible Lie: "Tell Me The Truth"

The Pittsburgh Steelers have had quite the eventful offseason at the most important position in football. When the 2024 season ended, it appeared most likely that Justin Fields or Russell Wilson would be asked back for the 2025 season on a new deal. Of course, both Fields and Wilson walked for affordable contracts elsewhere, leaving Mike Tomlin and the organization running thin on legitimate options.

Tomlin addressed the media on Sunday and was peppered with questions about the growing buzz surrounding Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers. Tomlin tried his best to sidestep the speculation, but at this point, it’s unavoidable. As the Steelers seem poised for Rodgers to announce his decision, they still don’t have a definitive answer just yet.

Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson weighed in on the situation during an episode of Nightcap with co-host Shannon Sharpe. Johnson believes Tomlin has not been fully transparent about the Steelers’ quarterback saga, suggesting the head coach may be downplaying the team’s concern about Rodgers.

"I was just getting ready to give you that example of what Mr. [Jimmy] Haslam just said in telling the truth, saying that we missed," Johnson said. "And then, on the next hand, we got Mike Tomlin giving us a lie. Don't tell me the beautiful lie. Tell me the truth."

While Tomlin has remained tight-lipped, the growing chatter from NFL insiders and analysts indicates that Pittsburgh is aggressively positioning itself to land the four-time MVP.

All signs point to Rodgers coming to the Steelers for the 2025 season but Pittsburgh must remain patient. Johnson continued on his rant about why he believes Tomlin should be more honest and nervous about the quarterback situation.

"We don't have a quarterback right now," Johnson said. "We don't. I should be unsettled. You shouldn't be comfortable right now, because you haven't had a quarterback in a while. In order to compete in the AFC North and to get back to the historic run that the Steelers are known for, winning championships, you need a g** d*** quarterback. That's it. That's why I say you sound like a politician."

If the Steelers do manage to bring Rodgers to Pittsburgh, it would be a seismic shift for the franchise. After years of uncertainty at quarterback following Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement, a move for Rodgers would signal an all-in push to contend in 2025. However, until an official announcement is made, skepticism will remain. Tomlin can continue dodging questions, but as Johnson pointed out, the truth will come out soon enough.

Many Steelers fans are growing increasingly concerned about how long it’s taking Rodgers to make his decision. The truth is, it’s a tough choice for him at this stage in his Hall of Fame career. His legacy is on the line, and he’s likely soaking up every bit of attention he can. As Rodgers continues to delay his announcement, Steelers fans are losing patience, but the organization has operated as if they already know he’s coming.

Steelers Getting Aaron Rodgers Feels Like A Matter Of Time

After new Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf recently worked out with Rodgers, speculation ramped up, with many believing it’s only a matter of time before he makes it official. While some question what Rodgers has left in the tank, his 2024 season showed enough flashes to convince Pittsburgh that he could still elevate their offense into Super Bowl contention. Despite the uncertainty, Tomlin has remained calm, refusing to feed into the media frenzy.

However, Johnson isn’t buying it. He believes Tomlin hasn’t been entirely truthful about the Steelers’ quarterback situation, suggesting the team is more desperate than they appear. While Tomlin projects confidence, Johnson argues that Pittsburgh knows they need Rodgers—and if he doesn’t come through, they could be in serious trouble.
