Steelers' rookie has fans fired up after comments at rookie minicamp

This rookie is quickly becoming a fan favorite.

The Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback situation remains one of the more polarizing topics in the NFL. The return of Mason Rudolph and the potential addition of Aaron Rodgers are big stories, but the team's decision not to address the position with a high draft pick may be even more interesting.

They clearly were not fans of the QBs that were still available to them in the first round, so they waited until late on Day 3 to take a swing on one.

Will Howard out of Ohio State was ultimately the pick in the sixth round, and he has already begun endearing himself to Steelers Nation.

Pittsburgh Steelers' rookie Will Howard saying all the right things at rookie minicamp

Many Steelers fans have likely seen the draft video of Will Howard practically begging the team to draft him. It was a great look into his mindset, especially as a late-round pick looking to prove himself after a National Championship with the Buckeyes.

That clip already had fans buzzing about his addition to the Steelers' lackluster QB room, and his latest comments at rookie minicamp further endeared him to the fanbase.

Leaning into the hard-nosed nature of the Steelers' history is a quick and easy way to get the fans to love you, but I believe Howard when he says it. He played with an admirable toughness during his college career, especially so in 2024.

He isn't an overwhelming athlete, but he runs with physicality thanks to his 6-4, 236-pound frame. He laid everything out there every game for Ohio State and Kansas State before that, and I have no reason to believe he won't do the same if he sees the field in the NFL.

Being a sixth-round pick at QB means he won't get a long leash to prove himself, if he gets a chance at all. But he is already showing off the mentality that all late-round picks need if they want to last a long time in the NFL. Don't be shocked if he sees the field at some point in 2025.
