Steelers should want no part of this polarizing QB prospect in the NFL Draft

This QB is the last thing the Steelers need right now.

One of the biggest questions surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers pertains to their quarterback situation, and when that meshes with the 2025 NFL Draft happening next month, one name is continuously whispered: Jalen Milroe.

Alabama Reinstates Jalen Milroe as Starting Quarterback

Nah, I’m good. Next!

Such a confident opposition to the idea would surely stun some people and I understand why, as even I can admit that the Alabama product screams “Steelers,” at least when compared to what they’ve gone for recently with guys like Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.

The comparability is, of course, most noticeable in his dual-threat capabilities, but that’s not all of what makes him appealing. He also has a cannon of an arm, and by playing in the SEC, he’s probably about as “NFL-ready” as a college player can be in regards to battle-testing.

But, while I can concede all of that, one must also agree that he embodies everything wrong with the franchise as it sits today—and no, that’s unfortunately not an exaggeration.

Jalen Milroe is not the quarterback the Pittsburgh Steelers need in the 2025 NFL Draft

Think about it: What have the Steelers struggled with throughout recent memory? Inconsistency. What plagued Milroe’s career at Alabama? Inconsistency. The guy would put up a Heisman-level stat line one week and a bench-warming stat line the next. Do you mean to tell me that those issues won’t carry over?

And no one better think of giving me the “everyone has growing pains” talk. This problem obviously runs deeper than a lack of experience, as he had plenty of it at Alabama which, just in case you forgot, is the friggin’ pinnacle of college football!

Not only that but even if it was just an experience issue, what about the current state of the Steelers implies their fanbase is willing to wait any longer for success?

All yinzers know that the extent of Pittsburgh’s struggles has long been inexcusable, with an increasing amount of them saying that head coach Mike Tomlin has zero business maintaining his position. As an organization with a monumental standard to meet, the last thing that should tell you is that you’re fit to resume the long game.
