If the Pittsburgh Steelers really are exploring the idea of adding a star receiver to play alongside DK Metcalf and to replace George Pickens?
Good for them.
But there are some ideas that seem viable.
And there are other ideas that seem like pipe dreams.
Are the New Orleans Saints really willing to give up receiver Chris Olave?
We're dubious. ... though pleased that Pittsburgh made a call.
And what about the rumor about the Washington Commanders and Terry McLaurin with a Steelers mention?
Yes, you guessed it ...
We're dubious.
McLaurin is as key as anybody on that roster this side of Jayden Daniels in DC's plan on making a Super Bowl run.
That's why the Commanders and star receiver McLaurin - who reportedly started preliminary talks on a contract extension in March - are in the news today ...
As McLaurin was this week not present at the team's offseason programs for the first time.
These OTAs are voluntary. Still, Commanders fans are surely sweating this one out, at least a bit ... knowing that the eventually mandatory camp will reveal if this is a true holdout.
And Steelers fans? One Steelers site is pushing for the idea of a McLaurin trade, calling it a "sneaky'' move.
But we simply don't see it - from a Washington perspective.
McLaurin is one of the league's most consistently fine receivers, as he has totaled over 1,000 yards in the last five seasons, including a 1,096-yard number from 2024 that included 82 catches and 13 touchdowns.
The vision of him continuing to hook up with Daniels, maybe for the rest of his career, is the Washington ideal.
How to pay him is another question. But it's a puzzle, we bet, that Washington will solve, long before Pittsburgh ever gets a chance to even contemplate.
