Despite running at full speed in individual drills and wearing pads for Wednesday’s padded practice session, Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson was once again give a limited in practice designation by the team on Wednesday.
Wilson, who has been recovering from an ankle injury suffered on the first day of padded practices in training camp, was first listed as a full participant in practice last Thursday, but was limited on Friday.
He was wearing pads for the full-up session on Wednesday, and was running at what looked to be full speed in individual periods, but is still listed as a limited participant.
The Steelers could certainly use a spark for their wide receivers. After George Pickens, the rest of the team’s wide outs have combined for five catches for 28 yards through two games. Pickens has eight for 114.
Wilson will likely need to get at least one day, and perhaps two days of full practices in over the rest of the week to get the nod from head coach Mike Tomlin. This Steelers will have an opening on their game-day roster, after wide receiver Ben Skowronek was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday.
