‘Tacky’ Kelly Dodd called out for mocking Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers abuse allegations: ‘Very poor taste’

Kelly Dodd was slammed on social media as “cruel” and “tacky” for posting a video mocking Denise Richards’ bombshell abuse allegations against estranged husband Aaron Phypers.

In the video posted Sunday, Dodd and her husband, Rick Leventhal, lip-synced audio of Phypers threatening Richards during Season 10 of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

In the episode, which has since resurfaced following Richards’ allegations, the actress told her partner not to “say a f–king word” as they walked hand-in-hand.

Phypers can be heard telling her, “Don’t tell me what to say. I’m going to crush your f–king hand. Stop it.”

Dodd, 49, and Leventhal, 65, re-enacted the disturbing scene in the video and the “Real Housewives of Orange County” alum captioned it, “Denise and Aaron for Halloween?? 🎃 😆,” seemingly making light of the situation.

Many commenters said the video was in “very poor taste,” while others slammed her for making light of domestic abuse.

“Wow. That’s cruel, domestic abuse doesn’t get a costume or a vote,” one fan wrote, while another added, “Tacky but expected.”

Other fans voiced their concern for the “Wild Things” star, writing, “I think its horrible for Denise to see this. 😢”

Some even spoke to their personal experience. “As a domestic abuse survivor I find this insulting,” an upset viewer added.

Richards, 54, was granted a restraining order against her estranged husband, 52, on July 16.

In court documents, the model claimed that Phypers threatened to kill her and himself if she ever reported him to the cops.

“Throughout our relationship, Aaron would frequently violently choke me, violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in my face and head, aggressively slam my head into the bathroom towel rack,” Richards alleged in the docs obtained by Page Six.

The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum, also claimed Phypers bruised her eye during one of his attacks in 2022.

Phypers adamantly denied the allegations. “Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone. These accusations are completely false and deeply hurtful,” he said in a statement to People.

The “Leap” star has been ordered to stay 100 yards from Richards and her property, including her home and car.

Explosive allegations continue to be thrown back and forth between the estranged pair. Phypers most recently accused the mom of three of being addicted to Vicodin and having an “ongoing” affair with another man.

In a letter to friends and family obtained by Page Six from Phypers, he claimed Richards needs an “intervention” for her alleged drug addiction that has put their 14-year-old daughter “in danger.”

“Some of you know this has been an issue for over 20 years. She’s no longer eating real meals, and I’ve witnessed her pass out from substances,” he claimed.

He also insisted that he was the only victim of physical abuse in the relationship saying that he was “physically attacked” by Richards on July 4 — their date of separation in his divorce filing.

Phypers doubled down on his previous denial of Richards’ allegations of abuse, claiming, “I have never, ever physically harmed my wife, and I did not give her a black eye.”

“I have only ever stepped in to protect her or others — including separating her from physically attacking her daughter — always coming from a place of care and concern.”
