The Tennessee Titans have had a busy offseason looking to build a new direction coming off arguably the worst season in franchise history.
After going 3-14 and earning the No. 1 overall pick, which resulted in landing quarterback Cam Ward, the Titans have a new sense of hope. Though it seems unlikely their three-year playoff drought will come to an end, they seem to be trending upward.
While the offensive side of the ball will hinge largely on the development of Ward, there are some names on the defensive side of the ball that deserve some attention as well.
When looking at every team's most important contract extension candidate entering the 2025 season, Bleacher Report's Moe Moton landed on safety Amani Hooker for the Titans.
Hooker was the most productive player in the Titans secondary last season. He tied cornerback Jarvis Brownlee for a team-leading nine pass breakups and led the club in interceptions with five. Hooker reached career highs with both of those coverage numbers. He signed an extension in 2022. The versatile safety should be in line for another pay raise following his best year.
Hooker has spent his entire six-year NFL career as a reliable starter for the Titans ever since he was selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft out of Iowa.
The 27-year-old logged a career-high nine passes defensed and five interceptions last season while also adding four tackles for loss and a stellar 63.9 passer rating allowed in coverage on 39 targets.
The Titans have roughly $30 million in salary-cap space, 11th-most in the NFL, per Over The Cap. Hooker is entering the final year of a three-year, $30 million deal. At $10 million per season, his contract ranks 19th among all NFL safeties.
The Titans have the money to get a deal done and given his consistent production, it wouldn't be a surprise if Hooker gets a new contract before the 2025 season ends.
