The Tennessee Titans revamped their front office after a disastrous 2024 season, sending GM Ran Carthon packing and replacing him with a new brain trust. New GM Mike Borgonzi, his boss Chad Brinker, and the top front office lieutenants (and former GMs themselves) Dave Ziegler and Reggie McKenzie comprise the four-pack leading the charge in Tennessee.
These gentlemen made their philosophy clear at the outset: patience, frugality, and a draft-centered mindset would be the new way for this franchise. Free agency would be used to supplement, not build.
But they bent this rule for one player: LT Dan Moore, who they made the highest-paid offensive linemen on the market. They also went out and took a swing on stalwart veteran guard Kevin Zeitler who the Lions let walk. Together, these two completed an OL rebuild that’s years in the making. They join former top-11 draft picks Peter Skoronski and JC Latham, as well as 2024’s highest-paid free agent center Lloyd Cushenberry. The five of them make up the most promising OL (on paper) that Tennessee has had in roughly half a decade.
And the national media landscape is noticing. PFF’s offseason series of articles highlighting their top players at each position recognized the Titans offensive big boys in a way fans of the team haven’t seen in a long time. Both starting Titans guards are ranked inside the top-20 at their position heading into 2025.
Coming in at number 9 on their list, Kevin Zeitler's old age hasn’t slowed him down as one of the best interior linemen in the league. Here’s what they had to say about him:
“Although Zeitler enters 2025 at age 35, he continues to prove he isn’t slowing down. In his lone season in Detroit, Zeitler earned his highest PFF overall grade (86.5) in a decade, finishing as the NFL’s third-highest-graded guard. While his pass protection dipped a bit in 2024, his 87.2 PFF run-blocking grade stands as the best of his career.”
And just making the cut, number 20 is Peter Skoronski. One of the most under-discussed things from the Titans 2024 season is how Skoronski finished down the stretch as arguably the best pass protecting guard in the entire league. But PFF gave him his flowers:
“From a season-long viewpoint, Skoronski doesn’t move the needle much, but there’s an argument to be made that he closed out the year as the best pass protector at the position. From Week 12 onward, Skoronski produced the highest PFF pass-blocking grade (88.2) among guards. At just 24 years old, that strong finish should set up a breakout 2025.”
The most concerning element for the Titans in the trenches is their depth. They need a handful of player acquisition cycles to enjoy that kind of security. But if both of these fellas can stay on the field this season, they should makeup the best duo you’ve seen in years in Tennessee.
