Tennessee Titans Considering Massive Trade Before 2025 NFL Draft

As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, the Tennessee Titans are at the center of growing speculation, holding the coveted No. 1 overall pick.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, multiple teams have expressed serious interest in trading up for the top spot, with an eye on Miami quarterback Cam Ward.

Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Rapoport relayed, “There is for sure real interest from several teams in acquiring the No. 1 overall selection.” The Titans, who endured a challenging 3-14 season last year, are reportedly still weighing their options, needing more time to decide whether to use the pick or trade down for additional assets.

The interest in Ward is significant, as he is expected to be the first quarterback selected in the NFL Draft. This comes after a season where the Titans’ quarterbacks, Will Levis and Mason Rudolph, struggled to perform, collectively throwing for 3,317 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions over 17 games.

Potential suitors for the No. 1 pick include the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Jets, all of which need a quarterback and are positioned in the top seven picks.

The strategy of trading down could mirror the successful maneuver by the Chicago Bears in 2023, who moved down from the No. 1 spot and accumulated significant assets.

Such a strategy could appeal to the Titans, especially with high-caliber prospects like Penn State pass-rusher Abdul Carter and Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter available in the draft.

The Athletic’s Diana Russini highlighted the Giants, in particular, as “a team to watch” in their pursuit of a quarterback, indicating possible significant moves in the upper echelon of the draft.

This year’s draft is not as quarterback-rich as the previous year’s, when the top three picks and six of the first 12 were quarterbacks. This scarcity may create urgency among teams needing a franchise quarterback, potentially benefitting the Titans if they trade down.
