The Tennessee Titans have a unique opportunity to do something creative with the first overall pick this year.
The Tennessee Titans landed the first pick of the 2025 NFL Draft by finishing the regular season with a 3-14 record. 2024 was the third straight year they missed the playoffs and had a losing record.
Mock drafts are projecting that the Titans will take Cam Ward with the first overall pick. Current quarterback Will Levis disappointed in his first year as a starter, throwing for 2091 yards with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Levis had a fresh outlook after being benched by the Titans.
The question for the Titans will be whether they stick with their current quarterback, or selecting one in the draft. There is potential that Tennessee can benefit by trusting Levis and doing something in the draft that has only happened 13 times since 1967.
Rich Eisen says the Tennessee Titans should be open to trading first pick
Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, Eisen gave a potential scenario that the Titans can follow in the NFL draft, he said: “If Cam Ward is expected to be the first quarterback picked, is there somebody that falls in love with Ward so much that they call up the Titans and say we will trade a whole bunch for him.
“Then the question is how far do the Titans drop, or do the Titans say ____ it, and take Cam Ward themselves because Will Levis didn’t show Brian Callahan and the new staff enough last year to say we are willing to stick with you.
“You [Levis] have been in our system for a year, year two will be better for all of us and we will forgo Cam Ward.
“I am just an observer, I would go with Cam Ward, I would say we don’t want to be up here any longer or they do fall in love with Shedeur Saunders.”
Potential teams that could draft Ward in 2025
Cam Ward has issued a warning to the teams that don’t draft him. He has demonstrated in college that he can play at a high level.
Ward threw for 4313 yards with 39 touchdowns for the Miami Hurricanes. He broke the NCAA career touchdowns record on his way to a fourth-place finish in Heisman trophy voting.
At least four out of the top 10 teams could be looking to draft a quarterback, this list includes the Titans, New York Giants, New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders. The question is, does one team want Ward enough to trade up for him?
