Washington Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin fully expected Marcus Mariota to shine after coming in for the injured Jayden Daniels against the Carolina Panthers.
Washington Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota had his "moment" against the Carolina Panthers, leading his team to a 40-7 beatdown.
After Jayden Daniels was forced to exit the game due to a rib injury early in the first quarter, it was the Mariota show in Washington, and he looked completely at home in Kliff Kingsbury's offense.
Mariota would finish his day going 18 for 23 for 205 yards, two touchdowns while having 34 rushing yards on 11 carries.
And receiver Terry McLaurin isn't the least bit surprised.
"I'd expect nothing else of him," McLaurin said. "He's been a leader since he got here. He's really helped Jayden along, and we've really built some camaraderie with him as well."
McLaurin, who had a quiet opening two weeks of the season, has begun to hit his stride, surpassing 50 receiving yards in every game since, which includes two 100-yard games.
Against the Panthers, McLaurin was the leading man, hauling in all six of his targets for 98 yards, with his longest reception being a 25-yard pass from Mariota.
Now, with Daniels being listed as week-to-week as he deals with his rib injury, it is yet another quarterback that McLaurin has to develop chemistry with, and based on his performance against Carolina, he and Mariota are already on the same page.
While it remains to be seen if Daniels will suit up against the Chicago Bears, if he can't, and it is again Mariota's show, expect him and McLaurin to pick up where they left off against the Panthers.
