Terry McLaurin is still looking for a lucrative new contract extension that hasn't arrived yet. The Washington Commanders will get something worked out eventually, but this is proving more complicated than fans probably envisaged with one of their franchise cornerstones.
It's easy to worry. McLaurin is an integral part of the team's future, and his frustrations are transitioning over to the fan base. Things should reach a successful conclusion, but the clock is now officially ticking before training camp commences.
Until then, Commanders fans can take solace from the ongoing circus within the Dallas Cowboys with their own contract chaos.
Micah Parsons is still looking for his megabucks deal that will likely reset the edge-rushing market. The Cowboys have promised much but delivered almost nothing so far. Friction grew between the player's representatives and owner/general manager Jerry Jones. It's another fine example of the billionaire leaving things later than needed, which always costs him more in the long run.
Parsons confirmed exactly that to Clarence Hill from All City DLLS.

Jones' stubbornness is renowned and it's only getting worse with age. It's a great way to stay in the headlines, which is important to him. But it's not exactly the best way to run a successful football franchise.
That's of no concern to the Commanders, who surpassed the Cowboys last season for the first time in years. They were a far superior outfit, reaching the NFC Championship game as Dallas failed to make the playoffs. Washington is on the up, and Jones needs to alter his approach or get left behind.
Parsons will get his money — a lot of it. The former first-round pick out of Penn State is too important for the Cowboys to do anything else. But it might go on for a while yet, especially considering quarterback Dak Prescott got his extension just hours before Week 1 last season.
The Commanders are being run far too professionally for things to drag that long with McLaurin. Adam Peters knows how pivotal his happiness is to Washington's future prosperity. Once the intricate details get worked out, it won't be much longer before something gets rubber-stamped.
And there's a good chance McLaurin's deal gets done way before Parsons' does if Jones' recent stalling tactics are any indication.
