Teven Jenkins set to visit Seahawks; Bengals need to make sure it doesn’t happen

The Cincinnati Bengals, since the addition of Joe Burrow and arguably even before that, have had to focus on enhancing their offensive line.

Minnesota Vikings v Chicago Bears

Burrow has been among the most-hit quarterbacks in the NFL over the last few seasons, and with multiple season-ending injuries in his young career, that just isn’t a sustainable route for one of the highest-paid players in football.

The Bengals went out and spent millions to bring in names like Alex Cappa and Ted Karras a few offseasons ago. While Karras has played well for Cincinnati, for the most part, those free agency additions didn’t pan out for the Bengals.

Now, without Cappa at guard, the Bengals are going to have to find a replacement, and free agency may be where they find that next starter. Tevin Jenkins is one player they have shown interest in.

Well, there are going to be multiple suitors for Jenkins, who is scheduled to meet with the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Jenkins is a 6-foot-6 guard who comes in at 320 pounds. He was a starter for the Chicago Bears a season ago. He just turned 27 years old, so Jenkins still has some youth on his side. Jenkins has spent the last four years with the Bears, starting 38 of his 45 appearances, and has been a consistent starter since his second season in the NFL.

If the Bengals want to get this deal done, they probably need to strike now before Jenkins makes that trip to Seattle, or at the very least get him in town for a visit before then.

Otherwise, Jenkins could quickly come off the board to the Seahawks, which would be a blow to the Bengals’ hopes of upgrading both guard spots.

It’s past time to be aggressive. Let’s see if the Bengals realize that and act on it this weekend.
