A former winner of “The Bachelor” shared sad news via her social media pages recently, and Bachelor Nation stepped up to lend their support. Catherine Giudici let fans know in an Instagram post that her father, Carey Giudici, died on May 10.
As fans may remember, Giudici earned Sean Lowe’s final rose during season 17, which aired in 2013. The two went on to marry and now have three children together.
During their season of “The Bachelor,” Giudici was open about the difficult relationship she had experienced over the years with her father. More recently, however, she shared that her father was ill. He moved in with Giudici, Lowe, and their kids for a while as he received treatment locally.
On May 15, Giudici shared a handful of photos and videos on Instagram and wrote, “Bye Daddy. I love you. See you soon. Carey Couper Giudici 4/3/48-5/10/25.”
One photo Giudici included appeared to have been taken during a recent trip. Her father sat in a chair, while Giudici, her two sisters, and their mother stood behind him.
Everybody was all smiles, although it was clear that he was in poor health. “The Bachelor” winner’s parents split when she was a teenager.
In September 2024, Giudici shared via her Instagram Stories that her father had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. A January post recapping 2024 included a mention by Giudici that they moved her dad to Mexico in November.
In March, Giudici and her daughter traveled to Mexico to visit her father. The extended family was all there, with young cousins getting an opportunity to spend time with their grandfather while they could.
Former “The Bachelorette” star Becca Kufrin posted a comment on Giudici’s Instagram post. Kufrin’s father died some years ago, and she named her son, with “Bachelor in Paradise” star Thomas Jacobs, after the town where he was born.
Kufrin wrote, “No words can heal the hole that this man left behind, but now you have the most beautiful angel looking down on you. Sending you some love and support through the sadness.”
Former “The Bachelor” lead Bob Guiney wrote, “God bless him and your family. I’m so sorry.”
Chris Harrison, the former host of the franchise,” added, “Sending you and your family my love. God bless his soul.”
Trista Sutter shared, “I am so so sorry, Catherine. Sending prayers up that your family is wrapped in strength and love in this difficult time.”
Giudici’s sister-in-law, Lowe’s sister, Shay Shull, commented, “Carey was truly one in a million. I am just so very sorry. Love you so much.”
“Sending you my love during this time, Catherine. 😔 I see so much of him in your beautiful kids, ❤️❤️❤️” wrote “Bachelor in Paradise” alum Jade Roper.
