The Bengals quietly restructured the contract of Cordell Volson: What does it mean?
Here’s something you don’t see everyday: The Cincinnati Bengals restructured the contract of Cordell Volson, and no one caught it until a week later.

According to the Bengals’ official website, the team quietly re-negotiated Volson’s contract on May 14th. While no details have been reached, it’s almost certainly a paycut for Volson, who was set to have a cap hit of $3,820,220, according to Over The Cap.
If Volson was willing to accept a new deal, it likely came with some type of guarantee that he’ll make the 53-man roster, so assume his spot is secure heading into training camp.
This means there’s almost zero chance the Bengals will sign another outside free agent like Brandon Scherff or Dalton Risner, so we can officially put those dreams to rest.
It also means the Bengals are in serious danger of having another bottom-10 offensive line, as Joe Burrow has yet to play behind even an above-average o-line at any point during his career. That is unless new offensive line coach Scott Peters — with just one full NFL season in that role under his belt — proves to be a major upgrade over the veteran Frank Pollack.
And if this is yet another Bengals player taking a paycut — joining the likes of Geno Stone and Zack Moss — then will they actually use that money to pay Trey Hendrickson?
