The Golden Bachelorette contestant Mark Anderson was speculated to be a producer plant who wasn't on the show to date Joan Vassos. If this is true, it proves, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the show's producers care more about the show than the lead. They don't care if Joan gets her heart broken, as long as the first season of the female-led Bachelor spin-off is entertaining and gets strong ratings. It's a shame because Joan truly deserves to find true love again.
Joan made her television debut on Gerry Turner's season of The Golden Bachelor, but she had to leave early due to a family emergency. She was given another shot when she was cast in The Golden Bachelorette season 1. Joan met Mark on the first night of the season, but he was familiar to audiences, because he appeared on The Bachelor season 28, when Kelsey Anderson brought Joey Graziadei home to meet her father. Increasingly, it looked like Mark wasn't on the show to date Joan.
Mark Could Be On The Show For Clout
Something's Missing
Bachelor Nation fans were beyond thrilled when it was announced Mark was cast in The Golden Bachelorette season 1. Though he was expected to swoop in and steal Joan's heart, it didn't work out that way. Joan was way more interested in other men, like 60-year-old Chock Chapple and 66-year-old Guy Gansert.
Joan and Mark hadn't connected, and neither seemed to be trying. Other than the one time Mark pulled Joan aside and gave her an impromptu German lesson which ended was a kiss, there hadn't been much going on between the two. During a recent episode of the show, Joan told Mark that though she liked him very much, something was missing.
Joan Joined The Show To Find A Partner
She's Not In It For Fame
If Joan was in it for fame, she would never have left Gerry's season of The Golden Bachelor early. She would have stayed and parlayed her 15 minutes of fame into an influencer career, the way Mark's daughter, Kelsey, did. Joan is no stranger to true love. The widower was married to her late husband, John Vassos, for 32 years, before he passed away in 2021. Joan isn't on The Golden Bachelorette season 1 to be famous, while Mark seems to be there to be cast as The Golden Bachelor.
Producers Put Drama Over Love All The Time
It Can Cause Problems
The harsh truth is that the producers of The Golden Bachelorette season 1 aren't matchmakers, they're only interested in making an entertaining show. A recent example is when producers of The Golden Bachelor season 1 pushed Gerry and Theresa Nist into getting married way sooner than they should have. The lavish Golden Bachelor Wedding got great television ratings, but the marriage was over just three months later. Hopefully, producers won't get between Joan and true love.
