Bella Ramsey talks about fans' backlash against the show

While The Last of Us has proven itself to be one of the best shows ever, it still has a history of being subject to regular backlash from fans of the Naughty Dog games. Before the premiere of the show, after the release of the trailer, fans were upset about how much the makers had diverted from the source with their casting of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie. Later on, when the third episode, Long, Long Time aired, fans of the video games criticised the homosexual angle to the story of Bill and Frank.

Bella Ramsey, who came out as gender-fluid herself earlier this year, was asked about her stand on the backlash in a recent interview by Independent. She said that she is largely unbothered by the trolling and backlash and added, “Whatever decision is made by the creators, there’s gonna be opinions. It’s quite nice to just have that level of distance from it now.”

Naughty Dog developers get emotional about cancelled TLOU Online

The Last of Us Multiplayer game which was known to be in development for some time was recently announced to be cancelled. We’ve already heard enough of it from the fans that were waiting for the game, and others. Now, some of the developers at Naughty Dog, who were working on the game have also shared their sides of the story. Technical designer Nathaniel Ferguson described the now cancelled game as the “highlight” of his career, having worked on it since the very first day that he was hired.

Dialog Director Kat McNally, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share, “It’s never easy to have a game cancelled, but I’m so proud of my studio and everything we accomplished on this project.”

Principal game designer Karl Morley said, “I learned more on this project than any other in my career and had more fun playing this game than any other MP game before and since.”

Naughty Dog announced the cancellation of the game as they chose to focus and support their single-player games as opposed to supporting the multiplayer game with post-launch content for years after release.
