HBO is currently filming the upcoming season of its popular video game-based show "The Last of Us" in British Columbia. According to recent information online, Ellie actor Bella Ramsey is shooting scenes with the new addition to the cast, Isabela Merced. Merced is set to play the part of Ellie's girlfriend, Dina. Right after the set images made their way to the internet, fans shared their thoughts on the progress including some concerns. Here is what fans are worried about.

The set images were first posted on the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter), but the source containing the leaks was deleted. Soon after, these images made their way to Reddit, giving fans an early glimpse of both actors in their costumes.

However, these images have also raised some concerns among fans about the age of the characters. The discrepancy between the first game, launched in 2013 when Ellie was 14, and its sequel, launched in 2020 when she was 19, has sparked a debate among fans. Now, the challenge for Bella Ramsay is to portray a character aged 14 in Season 1, who is now aged 19 in Season 2.

As per Reddit posts, fans fear Ramsey may be good at channelling Ellie’s younger personality during the first season, which will be based on the first game, but may fail when it comes time to naturally age up for the second season if it borrows from the sequel.

Going through the mixed reactions on Reddit, it feels like people are taking the age gap too seriously. At this point if you don’t think Bella Ramsey is Ellie, it’s probably time to move on," one comment reads.

Another Reddit user adds, "Ramsay's actual age isn't really what people are discussing. It's her appearance", adding that she looks "younger than her actual age." The fan carried on saying that they are doubting the actor's ability but want to see an "actress that looks more mature." Amidst the criticism, a Reddit user commented ,"I love Bella’s performance so far. She’s absolutely crushing it and she’s a great Ellie".

Through the leaked images, fans also got an early indication of the setting of some of the scenes in the upcoming season. The leaked photos, set in a lush, forest-like setting, suggest that the show is filming scenes from the early Seattle segments of the game.
