Per Flix Patrol, Rick and Morty has taken the top spot on the Top TV Shows on HBO chart for June 13. With Rick and Morty's ascension, The Last of Us has been bumped down to second place on the list, falling 51 points behind the irreverent sci-fi comedy. Rick and Morty also took the top streaming show spot in 11 different countries, ranging from Thailand to Brazil to Australia, leaving The Last of Us the top spot in only five nations total. Rick and Morty has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 100% for its new season.

Rick and Morty Season 8 premiered on May 25 on Adult Swim, and is set to release new episodes every Sunday through to the season finale on July 27. The long-running sci-fi dramedy, co-created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, made its debut back in 2013 and immediately established itself as the then-latest pop culture phenomenon. Since it began, Rick and Morty has amassed a total run of 81 episodes, or rather it will have by the time its eighth season comes to a close.

Based on the hit Naughty Dog video game series of the same name, The Last of Us premiered on HBO in 2023 to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The series began with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the leading roles of Joel and Ellie, a middle-aged man and teen girl who come together to survive the fungus-zombie-infested remnants of post-apocalyptic North America. The series' recently concluded second season shook things up in some major ways with the deaths of both Joel and Ellie, leaving the focus of the show to realign with the personal journey of Kaitlyn Devers' Abby.

What the Future of The Last of Us Looks Like

Abby and the WLF are on the hunt for Joel in The Last of Us.

In May, The Last of Us series co-creator Craig Mazin explained just what fans can expect from the show's upcoming third season, promising that "There is another side to this story that we have yet to really delve into." Mazin continued, "There's no question that Abby is the hero of her story. Kaitlyn Dever is the hero of a story, always. If you have a Kaitlyn Dever, you use a Kaitlyn Dever. So I think where we go next, all I can say is it will always be centering somebody, whether it's Ellie and Dina, or whether it's Abby and Abby's relationship with Owen or new relationships."
