The Last of Us Season 2: Catherine O'Hara Teases Her Character's 'Odd Relationship' With Joel

As seen in the recent trailer for The Last of Us Season 2, it has been revealed that O’Hara will be guest-starring as a therapist to Pedro Pascal’s Joel Miller. During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, O’Hara opened up about her character’s “odd relationship” with Joel, who must face the consequences of his past actions. "I have an odd relationship with Pedro's character," O'Hara said. "You don't quite know why she's got... well, she's got this edge to her, but it makes for some weird, good dark comedy, I think. So it's there. I never want to deny the gift of humor."

In addition, the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star also expressed how much she enjoyed working with lead stars Pascal and Bella Ramsey. "I just love working with Pedro Pascal," O'Hara continued. "Both of them. Bella. Wow. Was that intimating? It always is. It's not my territory.... You're just like, thank you for inviting me, and I'll try to be a good guest. But they were very kind to me, and it was great."

I just love working with Pedro Pascal.

The Last of Us is written, created, and executive produced by Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin. The ensemble cast is led by returning cast members Pascal as Joel Miller, Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Fans last saw Joel and Ellie at the end of the Season 1 finale, where Joel made the difficult decision of rescuing Ellie from the Fireflies, despite knowing Ellie's potential role in saving the world from the disease. The next installment will be based on Naughty Dog’s best-selling video game sequel The Last of Us Part II, which will feature a time jump from the events of Season 1.
