The Last Of Us Season 2 Hyped By Newcomer Who’s Already Seen Footage: “It’s Gonna F*ck People Up”

The Last Of Us season 2 newcomer Danny Ramirez hypes the new episodes after watching a sneak peek. Created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann and based on the hit Naughty Dog video game franchise, the post-apocalyptic HBO drama premiered in 2023 to rave reviews and strong viewership. The Last of Us season 2 is set to pick up the story with Pedro Pascal's Joel and Bella Ramsey's Ellie while also introducing a handful of new characters, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, and Ramirez as a soldier named Manny.

The Last Of Us Season 2's Kaitlyn Dever Tease Confirms A Major Aspect Of Abby's Story

Ramirez now tells Empire magazine that he's seen some The Last of Us season 2 footage during an ADR (automatic dialogue replacement) session. While the actor doesn't reveal much of what's to come or how exactly Manny will fit into the story, he does promise that the new episodes will have a profound effect on audiences. Check out his comment below:

“I saw some clips in ADR. It's gonna f*ck people up. It's so good."

Reviews for The Last of Us season 1 were glowing from critics, with praise aimed at the strong emotional storytelling, performances, and action sequences. Season 1 has an impressive 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with the audience score not far behind at 88%. Ramirez's comment would suggest that, with season 2, Mazin and Druckmann will be delivering more of what worked so well in season 1.

As players of The Last of Us Part II video game already know, there could be some big emotional moments to come in the show. Without delving into major spoilers, Ramirez's comment could suggest that audiences will be seeing some of these moments – one, in particular – play out on-screen in season 2. It's important to remember, however, that Mazin and Druckmann have already revealed that the sequel game won't be adapted in just one season and that it could take two seasons or more to cover everything, so some moments could still be years away from being adapted.

Speaking with EW, Mazin said of The Last of Us' future: "I think it's pretty likely that our story will extend past a season 3."

Our Take On Ramirez's The Last Of Us Season 2 Hype

How Season 1 Sets Up An Emotional Moment

Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Last of Us season 1.

The Last of Us season 1 ended with Joel lying to Ellie about what happened with the Fireflies (after he murdered them all to save her), but it was clear that she didn't totally believe him. There will surely be a reckoning for the two characters in season 2 and a confrontation where Ellie learns the truth, and this certainly will be an emotional moment that could deeply affect viewers.

Considering Ramirez saw these powerful scenes during his ADR session, he's presumably referring to scenes that Manny is a part of. His character still remains somewhat mysterious, but a promotional image did reveal him to be part of Abby's crew, so his comment speaks to just how important that storyline will be. Many questions remain about The Last of Us season 2, but Ramirez's comment certainly makes the new episodes even more intriguing.
