The Last Of Us Season 2 Set Photos Reveal First Look At Original Voice Actor's Return

New set photos from The Last of Us season 2 show a returning voice actor from the video game in the same role, reprised for the live-action TV series. The Last of Us season 2 will focus on adapting the second game in the franchise, The Last of Us Part II, which has a major focus on Ellie and her character development moving forward. While the roles in the TV series have been recast from the game, actor Jeffrey Wright was previously reported to be reprising his role as Issac Dixon from the source material.

Now, CaptCanuck66 has posted images of Wright on the set for The Last of Us season 2, in uniform and ready to return as Issac. The images show him in a more militarized uniform, as well as someone else on set, seemingly teasing his group from the games. With the seasoned actor coming back to the role, it seems his performance will be very familiar to gamers who tune in.

What Issac Dixon’s Presence Means For The Last Of Us Season 2

Wright’s casting isn’t the first time an actor from the game reprised their role in the show, with Merle Dandridge coming back as Marlene in season 1. While most of The Last of Us cast isn’t from the games, actors continuing their roles indicate it's not out of the realm of possibility. What makes the Issac actor's presence so interesting, however, is that he has heavy ties to another newcomer gearing up to be introduced in season 2.

In The Last of Us Part II, Issac serves as the leader of the Washington Liberation Front, a group of survivors who overthrew FEDRA in Seattle and take in Abby, a new protagonist in the game. He soon becomes an antagonist, with the new playable character conflicting with him and ultimately going against him, despite previously being allies. His presence is important throughout the game, as his group is one of the major settlements introduced as the story evolves. He's also quite powerful, which makes him dangerous at times.

With The Last of Us season 2 introducing game characters that will become incredibly prominent over the course of the coming episodes, Wright's Issac will serve a major role. Although it's unclear how long he'll be in the season for, since it was previously reported Part II will need more than one season to be fully adapted. Even so, his return is a sign of things to come for the series, also implying just how accurate it will be to the source material.
