The article contains mild spoilers from The Last of Us Part II.
Actor Bella Ramsey recently revealed what they want more of in The Last of Us season 2. HBO's critically-acclaimed zombie horror-drama sees Ramsey star as Ellie, a precocious foul-mouthed 14-year-old orphan, who carries a natural immunity to the deadly fungal infection plaguing the world. Charged with protecting Ellie, weathered black market smuggler Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) escorts the young girl across a dangerous post-apocalyptic United States, resulting in an unbreakable bond developed along the way.
Speaking with L'Officiel, Ramsey shared what they want more of when they return to film The Last of Us season 2. The actor admitted they are "open to anything" but is really anticipating how series creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann adapt The Last of Us sequel video game, as well as fighting more than they had in season 1. Read what Ramsey said below:
"I’m very open to anything. I’m looking forward to seeing how Craig [Mazin] and Neil [Druckmann] adapt the story of the second game into another season. What I’m actually looking forward to is fighting more, but that’s just for me, not really for Ellie."
What To Expect From Ellie In The Last of Us Season 2
After finally surviving their perilous cross-country trek, Joel learns that for the Fireflies to create the cure for the Cordyceps infection, Ellie would need to undergo an operation that would kill her. Faced with a decision to let Ellie die to save the world or protect the one person he has left worth fighting for, Joel chooses the latter and murders any Firefly in his way to reach her. The Last of Us season 1 concludes with Joel and Ellie returning to the safe community of Jackson, Wyoming, where he commits to the lie he previously gave to Ellie to explain why she was still alive.
Although Ellie appears to accept Joel's explanation for the heart-wrenching events in Salt Lake City, doubt clearly remains within the young girl. When The Last of Us returns to HBO for season 2, audiences may see Ellie and Joel attempt to become productive members of Jackson. However, the relationship the two built over the course of the previous season may begin to deteriorate as the weight of the lie becomes too heavy to bear.
Mazin and Druckmann previously revealed that season 2, and a potential season 3, will faithfully adapt The Last of Us Part II's bold narrative. The critically-acclaimed story centered primarily on Ellie, who sets off on a revenge quest after someone close to her is killed. If The Last of Us season 2 retains the sequel game's core plot, then Ramsey will get her wish for more fighting.
