The Saints Have Made It A Mission To Draft A Quarterback

With a huge injury to Derek Carr and uncertainty about Spencer Rattler, the Saints will look to potentially draft a quarterback in this draft.

The New Orleans Saints came into the offseason with some quarterback questions, whether or not they would continue with Derek Carr or start Spencer Rattler after he showed some promise in his minimal playing time last season. Unfortunately, the Saints have an even bigger decision because of the shoulder injury that Carr has that could keep him out all of 2025.

This draft has a star-studded quarterback class, with the likes of Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, Jaxson Dart and Jalen Milroe. One or two of those quarterbacks will most likely be off the board by pick nine, meaning the Saints should have options with this pick.

Deion Sanders has expressed interest in his son playing with the Saints, and being partnered with Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara as a rookie would be highly beneficial for a talent like Sanders. It was also announced that his jersey would be retired by Colorado. Sanders started the offseason as potentially the number one pick, but has slipped in multiple mock drafts and could end up in New Orleans.

Milroe out of Alabama is another interesting prospect, as he was not considered a high first round draft pick until recently. Milroe is a fun prospect, who can run the ball very well and has a good throwing arm, but is not necessarily accurate like Sanders. Milroe is a raw prospect like Anthony Richardson was out of Florida and could be a player that might need some time to develop.

The Saints will explore as many options as possible, but they look to be very determined to fix their quarterback room and potentially have a rookie starter in 2025.
