The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon is Steaming on Netflix

Fans of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will have a chance to catch up on the series' first season ahead of Season 2's arrival in September. Thanks to a new deal AMC inked with Netflix to bring some of its shows to the platform, Season 1 of Daryl Dixon is just one of their many shows that fans will be able to binge. While Daryl Dixon lagged behind other recent spin-offs, Dead City and The Ones Who Live, the series is not going anywhere, with Season 3 in production and Season 4 expected to follow.

While all three Walking Dead spin-offs were well received, Daryl Dixon chalked up a 70% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, falling behind Dead City's 80% and The Ones Who Live's impressive 88%. However, what all the spin-offs proved beyond doubt is that The Walking Dead still has legs, and it will be shambling on for several years to come.

While Daryl Dixon is the first of these spinoffs to hit Netflix, that is a very strategic move considering Season 2, titled The Book of Carol, will also be coming to the platform on September 29. However, the new deal is much broader than that, and makes Netflix a one-stop shop for Walking Dead fans. All seasons of Fear the Walking Dead have also been added to the catalog, joining all 11 seasons of the flagship series, The Walking Dead. The franchise's other two new spin-offs, Dead City and The Ones Who Live, will be added in January 2025. There have been no dates released for when The Walking Dead: World Beyond, or Tales of the Walking Dead may complete the set, but that does not mean it will not happen in the future.

Created by David Zabel, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is based on the character of the same name from the original Walking Dead series played by Norman Reedus. The show is the fifth spin-off of The Walking Dead and is set weeks after the conclusion of the main series. In the series, Daryl washes ashore in France, at the site where the zombie outbreak originated. Daryl has to piece together how he ended up there, and the show follows Daryl on his journey as he tries to make his way back home - although it is never as simple as that. Season 1 of the series also stars Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laïka Blanc-Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi and Adam Nagaitis.

The second season of the series, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol, will reunite Reedus with his The Walking Dead co-star, Melissa McBride, who returns as Carol Peletier. While there is still much to be revealed about the second season, trailers and promotional material for the show have suggested that Carol's journey to find Daryl will be the main focus of this new run of episodes. Reedus has also previously revealed that Season 3 of the show will be filming in Spain, suggesting that Daryl and Carol's French adventure will shift location for its future seasons.

Aside from The Walking Dead, AMC's Netflix deal includes a "curated selection" of the network's biggest and best shows. This is a strategy that has already worked well for both AMC and Netflix, most notably with Breaking Bad, which was a linear ratings success on AMC, then a juggernaut of a hit when it was made available on Netflix. This success directly led to the Netflix sequel movie El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie in 2019.
