The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere its second season on September 29. The upcoming season, subtitled The Book of Carol, will reintroduce Carol Peleiter (Melissa McBride) into the storyline. The new season will expand many characters' stories, including Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi).
In a recent clip shared by The Walking Dead's official page on Twitter (X), Laurent appears to be in dire need of help as a group of walkers descend on him. Laurent was introduced in season 1 and, due to the fact his mother was infected by the virus while pregnant, is believed to be the one who will save humanity. He has been protected his entire life by his aunt Isabelle (Clémence Poésy), a nun, and the other nuns at the Abbey of Saint Bernadette. They all have faith that he is the chosen one and, instead of teaching him to be a survivor, have protected him, making him very naive to what the world has become.
Daryl (Norman Reedus) befriended Laurent, his aunt, and members of their group, The Union of Hope. After keeping good on his promise to safely deliver Laurent to the Next, The Union of Hope's headquarters, he began his journey to return to the United States. When he discovered Laurent followed him, he changed his mind, knowing he is needed in France.
Laurent was raised by women who coddled him, so when he meets a man like Daryl, he is drawn to him. So much so that he begs Daryl to take him back to the United States. He looks up to Daryl and learns much from him in the short time they have been acquainted. This is evident when he stealthily leaves the Nest in pursuit of Daryl, who doesn't detect he is being followed.
In an interview with Collider, Daryl Dixon showrunner David Zabel comments that Laurent's growth is really interesting. Scigliuzzi also talked about Laurent's growth in season 2.
" I think there's going to be a lot of great action scenes in that second season, and also emotional. It's going to be a really complete season of The Walking Dead.We see the character evolve through everything they've been through with Darryl. Then Carol's going to come in, and that's going to change a lot of things in a good way."
